CGN Europe Energy has acquired a 75 percent stake
in a Swedish wind power project from Australia's Macquarie Group and General Electric Energy Financial Services, Xinhua reported.
CGN acquires a 75% stake in Europe's largest single onshore wind farm
The Arctic wind project in Pitea, Sweden, is expected to be operational by the end of 2019 with a capacity of 650 MW and will be the largest single onshore wind farm
in Europe.
The project can meet the electricity needs of 400,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 750,000 tons
per year.
The report did not mention the value of
the deal.
According to Lu Wei, president of CGN Europe Energy Company, the company was established in Paris, France in 2014, and since its establishment four years ago, it has successively owned nearly 1,000 MW of wind power and solar energy assets through mergers and acquisitions and independent development and construction in five countries including the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands, and has rapidly developed into the sixth largest clean energy operator
in France.
