The conversion of glial cells into functional neurons represents a potential treatment for supplementing neuronal losses associated with neurodegenerative diseases and brain damageprevious attempts in this area, including the low conversion efficiency and failure caused by expressing transcription factors in the body to produce the type of neurons needed, have hampered attempts in this arearecently, researchers reported that using a recently developed RNA target to deliver to the virus in the CRISPR system CasRx, a single RNA binding protein, polysin beam binding protein 1 (Ptbp1), can lead to the conversion of m?ller colloid into retinal nerve cell (RGCs), and the conversion efficiency is high, leading to the relief of symptoms associated with RGC loss of diseasein addition, this method also induces neurons in the striatum with dopamine-energy characteristics, and relieves motor defects in mouse models of Parkinson's diseasetherefore, the conversion of colloids to neurons knocked out by CasRx-mediated Ptbp1 represents a promising in vivo genetic method that can be used to treat diseases caused by various neuronal deficiencies
