Navigant Research, a US market research institution, has released a new microgrid research report, tracking and analyzing
microgrid projects in six major regions of the world.

According to the report, as of the fourth quarter of 2017, the number of identified global microgrid projects reached 1,869, with a cumulative installed capacity of 20.
7 GW (including operating, under development and planned) and 60 new projects
    .

It is reported that since the second quarter of 2017, the global microgrid market has developed rapidly, especially driven
    by Saudi Aramco's 2.
    2 GW microgrid project.

"While Asia Pacific and North America still account for three-quarters of all microgrid capacity, the main shift in this study update is that the Middle East and Africa region jumps to third place among all regions with a total capacity of more than 3 GW," said Adam Wilson, research analyst at Navigant Research.

This is due to some project updates, whose total number is adjusted down to correctly reflect their current status
