"A trillion mini-grids, a trillion home lighting systems, a trillion solar PV stations, 10 million jobs and energy
to serve everyone in the world.
This is the main dream of the Global Solar Council (GSC), and we will achieve it by 2030," Pranav R Mehta, who has just taken over as Chair of the Global Solar Commission
, said in an exclusive interview.
The GSC's General Assembly will take place
in Abu Dhabi from 14 to 16 January 2019.
At that time, Pranav R Mehta will cooperate with representatives of various countries, the International Solar Energy Alliance (ISA) and the International Renewable Energy Alliance (ISA) and the International Renewable Energy Alliance.
The Energy Agency (IRENA) worked together to develop a detailed action plan to achieve the goal
of "trillion minigrids, power stations, lighting systems and 10 million jobs.
"
"At GSC, we will quickly shift from large, city-centric utility-scale projects to mini-grid power in remote areas that are still inaccessible to people," Mehta said, "We will go beyond the guidelines for setting/achieving big targets and focus primarily on the spread of solar energy so that all homes have access to solar energy
.
" ”
Mehta continued, "Africa will be the focus
of our attention during the Abu Dhabi conference.
South Africa tops the list of installed capacity in Africa, but Rwanda is following suit and Ethiopia is growing rapidly
.
Solar will account for 9% of Africa's new electricity generation capacity over the next two years, and we hope to drive this
through the African Youth Energy Initiative.
The GSC also matches
its steps with all plans/initiatives published by the ISA.
”
The Global Solar Council is the global solar industry organization founded in Paris
, France in December 2015.
At the beginning of its establishment, the 21st United Nations Climate Change Conference was being held
in Paris.
The Council is headquartered in China and the Secretariat is located in the United States, and each session elects one president and five co-chairs
.
Most of the members are members of national and regional solar energy associations with leading development in the field of solar energy, covering traditional and emerging photovoltaic markets, including the participation of more than 30 countries such as Australia, China, Europe, India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America and the United States, aiming to share successful experiences of all parties and promote the coordinated development of
the global solar energy market.
