News from SeafoodMedia on December 29 that the United Kingdom and Norway have reached a new agreement on fishing access areas and quotas in each other's waters in 2022.
Both sides allow each other to enter their own waters and exchange some fish quotas in the North Sea and the Arctic
    .

The new agreement will allow their respective fleets to have greater flexibility to target fish in the best condition and make the fishing industry more sustainable
    .

Britain will obtain 30,000 tons of white fish resources in the North Sea, such as cod, haddock and hake, which will bring gratifying growth in 2022
    .
Norway will allocate 6550 tons of cod to the United Kingdom near Svalbard.
This means that the United Kingdom can catch more than 7,000 tons of cod in the Arctic, worth about 16 million pounds, an increase of 1,500 tons from 2021
    .

The agreement emphasizes the continued commitment of both parties to manage fisheries in a sustainable manner and supports the long-term viability of fish in the North Sea
    .
The UK hopes that fishing vessels operating in Norwegian waters can apply for an external waters permit through the UK Single Issuing Agency (UKSIA)
