    Brazilian official: China gives 'green light' to importing Brazilian soybean meal

    According to Jean Marcel Fernandes, director of trade and international relations at the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture , China may import soybean meal from Brazi.
    The two sides reached a consensus this month and drew up a memorandum of understandi.
     
    Brazil's Sao Paulo State Daily reported on July 27 that in recent years, China has been the largest export destination for Brazil's soybeans, but before that, Brazil's soybean products exported to China were mainly soybean grains, excluding soybean me.
     
    According to Fernandez, the decision was made at a meeting of a bilateral subcommittee of the Brazilian High-level Coordination and Cooperation Council (COSBAN), the main bilateral cooperation mechanism between Brazil and Chi.
    “A memorandum of understanding was drawn up at this month’s subcommittee meeti.
    After analyzing the potential risks of such products, the Chinese side concluded that Brazilian soybean meal could be exported to China,” Fernandez sa.
     
    In addition to soybean meal, China has authorized the import of hulled peanuts, citrus pulp, soy protein concentrate and fetal bovine serum from Braz.
    In Fernandez's view, this is a major move in Brazil's opening to the Chinese market in the past deca.
     
    At present, the export of Brazilian corn to China has not yet been implement.
    According to Fernandez, Brazil and China have signed the Protocol on Phytosanitary Requirements for Brazilian Corn Exporting to China, but some adjustments need to be made before the agreement is implemented, and the two sides are negotiati.
