Metabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia, are the heart vascular disease (CVD) risk factors has been clear
.
Although we understand the general benefits of moderate-to-high intensity physical activity (MVPA) in preventing type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia, there is a lack of longitudinal data on the specific trajectory of MVPA in youth and the association of MVPA trajectory groups with CVD in adulthood
Diabetes, heart blood vessels prevention
This study aims to determine the correlation between the trajectory of moderate-to-high intensity physical activity (MVPA) and the onset of metabolic diseases (diabetes and lipid metabolism disorders) during adulthood
.
The researchers analyzed the prospective community-based cohort data of 5115 subjects in the Coronary Artery Risk Development Study of Young Adults.
The subjects were black and white 18-30 years old (1985-1986) at baseline.
Followed up for 30 years
.
A linear mixed model was used to develop a personalized MVPA trajectory for each subject
Changes in MVPA of subjects in different categories with age
Changes in MVPA of subjects in different categories with ageThe lower estimated MVPA score and the incidence of diabetes at the age of 18 are 12% higher (95% CI 6%-18%), and the incidence of occasional low-level high-density lipoprotein (HDL) is 4% (1%-7%).
And the incidence of occasional high triglycerides is 6% (2%-11%) higher
.
For every unit reduction in the MVPA score, the annual incidence of diabetes will increase by 6% (95% CI 4%-9%), and the annual incidence of high triglycerides will increase by 4% (95% CI 2%-6%)

Correlation between MVPA trajectory and metabolic diseases
Correlation between MVPA trajectory and metabolic diseasesAnalyzing various MVPA trajectory groups, the subjects who were in the most active group at the age of 18 (more than 300 minutes of activity per week), but had a sharp decline in activity in middle age, were compared with those who had been in the most active group since the age of 18.
Compared with subjects, the incidence of decreased high-density lipoprotein levels and increased low-density lipoprotein levels was higher
.
In summary, in view of the decreasing trend of moderate-to-high-intensity physical activity in adults and the increasing trend of related metabolic disease risks, adolescence is an important period for increasing intervention measures and beginning to maintain moderate-to-high-intensity physical activity
.
In short, maintaining a certain amount of exercise is not harmful to middle-aged people whose risk of metabolic diseases is increasing day by day!Youth is an important period for increasing interventions and starting to maintain medium-high-intensity physical activity.
