Recently, a research article was published in the top magazine BMJ, which aims to investigate the association between long-term residential exposure to road traffic and railway noise and the risk of dementia events
.
The study is based on a cohort study conducted by the Danish National Prospective Registry.
The participants were 1938994 adults over 60 who lived in Denmark from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2017
Blood vessel
The study population included 103,500 patients with dementia, of which 31,219 were diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, 8,664 were diagnosed with vascular dementia, and 2,192 were diagnosed with Parkinson's disease-related dementia
.
The researchers used the Cox regression model to analyze that the 10-year average exposure of the building's external walls to the most (Ldenmax) and least (Ldenmin) road traffic and railway noise is associated with a higher risk of all-cause dementia
