into the public eye, and in most people's lifetimes, it seems that never before has it paid as much attention to a vital and often overlooked issue as this year. Some people struggle in the front line, more people live in isolation at home, no matter what the situation, this is different from our normal life in the past.
In addition to the latest research on the virus itself, infectious diseases, vaccine research and development, we do not
, such as work-life balance, lack of social or mental health problems, children, the elderly and pregnant women's special needs. In view of this, we regularly select articles from
, including, but not limited to, top journals in biomedical and genetic research and
, BMC's flagship issue;
for public health and infectious diseases;
for psychiatry and treatment; academic journals for women, children and the elderly
and
for exploring complementary treatment options.This issue focuses on the prevalent mental health problems around the world, selects popular articles in relevant journals, from analysis of factors affecting children's and adolescents' mental health to the effects of smartphones on older people's suicidal thoughts, research on the role of pets in mental health and the role of mental health treatment in partner violence, and proposes strategies to optimize existing psychological interventions, which are welcome to read.。 The study systematically evaluated seven controlled trials of mental health treatment from five low- and middle-income countries and found that specialized mental health treatment continued to improve mental health outcomes, with two studies on depression reducing short-term intimate partner violence (IPV), while the combined interventions used in the other three studies did not have a significant impact on IPV. More research is needed in the future to demonstrate that depression interventions can reduce IPV and to identify potential mechanisms for mental health interventions to affect IPV.this paper covers 17 quantitative studies on the benefits of pet keeping and qualitative studies on the effects associated with keeping pets. Quantitative studies have shown the strength of the connection between humans and companion animals, and pets play a multi-role role in long-term mental health management. At the same time, this paper also emphasizes the negative effects of pet ownership, including the real and emotional burden on owners and the psychological impact of the loss of pets. In the future, we need to further explore the nature and connotation of this relationship, refine the types of psychological support that pets can provide, and study ways to incorporate it into the main treatment process.this paper, through systematic evaluation and Meta analysis, studies the prevalentness of smartphone use problems and their relevance to mental health problems. The results showed that 23.3% (14.0-31.2%) of children and adolescents had problems using smartphones. Smartphone use problems are associated with depression, anxiety, increased stress, and decreased sleep quality. Smartphone use has become a growing public health problem, requiring further weighing the pros and cons of technology and policies to reduce the harm of smartphones.researchers conducted a cross-sectional survey of 308 people over the age of 50 in nursing homes, and found that happiness and personality advantage were negatively associated with suicidal thoughts in older people. In addition, personality advantage and suicidal thoughts were independently cross-sectional, explaining 65.1% variation in suicidal thoughts under conditions that controlled happiness and demographic characteristics. This study shows that personality advantage is related to the prevention of suicidal thoughts, so more attention should be paid to the prevention factors of suicide thoughts in the elderly.this paper makes a realistic evaluation of the data in the available literature and finds that doctors are most likely to have mental health problems when they feel isolated, unable to complete their work, and are afraid to seek help. Interventions that emphasize relationships and a sense of belonging are more likely to promote well-being. Creating a people-centred work culture that balances positive and negative performance and recognizes positive and negative aspects of the medical process can help doctors cheer up. The manner in which interventions are implemented is also important and requires doctors to have confidence in the interventions in order to be effective. This paper provides a research basis for evaluating and improving existing interventions.。 Citation Impact
