Recently, Thai renewable energy developer BCPG publicly announced that it will spend 10 billion baht (about 311 million US dollars) to further expand its overseas portfolio
.
BCPG was founded in 2015 and is currently looking to invest in
markets in Australia, South Korea and Japan, as well as neighbouring Southeast Asian economies.
In a statement to the media on May 9, the BCPG CEO said the company plans to expand its generation capacity to more than 700 megawatts, which it expects to reach by
the end of the year.
The company will also launch new wind, solar and geothermal projects in Thailand, before expanding projects to Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia
.
The company currently operates approximately 600 MW of projects
in its portfolio.
These facilities include stakes
in three geothermal plants in Indonesia.
In May last year, BCPG acquired a 33% stake
in Singapore-listed Star Energy Group Holding.
BCPG is a subsidiary of
Thailand's state-owned Bangchak Petroleum Refining Company.
Its long-term goal is to build a portfolio
of clean energy assets spanning 1,000 megawatts by 2020.
He also said BCPG expects to close several new wind and solar deals in its target countries in the near future, but did not disclose any details
