BASF's Boldur™ utility poles help strengthen power grids in disaster-prone areas and help them recover quickly after disaste.

Andy Postlethwaite, Senior Vice President, Performance Materials Asia Pacific, BASF, said: “Countries prone to natural disasters such as typhoons, floods and earthquakes often experience severe property damage and widespread power outages after disaste.

The Boldur utility pole weighs only 220kg and has 10 times the flexural streng.

A 12-meter-long concrete utility pole typically weighs 850 kilograms, making it difficult to transport to the site and install it without a crane, boom truck or bucket tru.

Unlike wood, steel or concrete utility poles, Boldur utility poles are rust and corrosion resistant and do not require regular inspections to prevent rot and pest infestati.
