Sinochem New Network News BASF announced on September 7 that its six production bases in Shanghai, Jiangsu and Guangdong are participating in the direct purchase of renewable energy power
.
As the largest purchaser in the Yangtze River Delta region and the second largest purchaser in the Pearl River Delta region in this green power transaction, BASF’s first plan is to cooperate with a number of energy producers to purchase a total of approximately 440,000 MWh by 2025.
BASF's production bases participating in this green power transaction include: BASF Advanced Materials Co.
, Ltd.
, BASF Chemical Co.
, Ltd.
, Shanghai BASF Polyurethane Co.
, Ltd.
, BASF Plant Protection (Jiangsu) Co.
, Ltd.
, Yangzi Petrochemical-BASF Co.
, Ltd.
, and BASF Integration base (Guangdong) Co.
, Ltd
.
Yangzi Petrochemical-BASF subscribed for 107,000 MWh of electricity in this transaction, which is valid until the end of 2022, and all the purchased electricity is produced by solar photovoltaic
.
The three production bases in Shanghai will complete China’s first cross-provincial green power transaction, purchasing solar photovoltaic power from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to supply 30% of its power needs until the end of 2022
It is reported that in March this year, BASF launched a climate-neutral roadmap and set a more ambitious goal for itself, that is, to achieve net zero emissions by 2050
.
Increasing the use of renewable energy is one of the key ways to achieve this goal
