Bangladesh Power recently announced that a tender for a 50 MW solar power plant in Sonaghazi, Feni district, was underway, which was held
on January 20.
The project has secured $74 million in loans through the World Bank's Scaling Solar program, and prospective bidders are requested to submit their bids
by February 27.
Interested developers must provide a bid bond
of $1.
5 million to commercial banks in eligible countries.
The tender provides for a maximum of three partners
in any joint bidding.
The tender will be conducted
as a tender procedure in accordance with the World Bank's procurement regulations for borrowers of financing investment projects.
The successful bidder will be responsible for the facility, including the power evacuation system, transmission lines, bay extension of the Millsarei 230 kV substation and associated civil works such as dams or levees
.
Interested developers must have at least five years of power plant experience
as a contractor, subcontractor, or management contractor prior to the bid deadline.
If the contractor has experience in question, bidders must sign at least two contracts of $30 million or more since January 2010, similar to
the proposed 50 MW Sonagazi power plant and its associated works.
The tender documents further designate bidders who have experience in completing solar farms of 30 MWp or higher connected to the public grid and who have at least one project that has been in operation for at least two years

Bangladesh's central procurement technology department said the aim is to bring the plant online by June 2021 as part of
efforts to accelerate the development of power generation capacity and increase the country's clean energy production.
