Avient Corporation, a leading provider of professional and sustainable material solutions and services, today announced a partnership with Oceanworks® to help customers use recycled ocean plastic in their products
    .
Recycled marine plastics and pelagic plastics refer to plastics recovered from pelagic collection areas within 50 km of oceans, waterways and coastlines

    .

Building on the reSound™ R recycled content thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) launched in 2020, Avient and Oceanworks are now collaborating to expand their portfolio of recycled ocean plastics
    .
The resulting custom materials -- including TPEs and thermoplastics -- will be based on Oceanworks-certified base resins

    .
Oceanworks will also provide provenance verification so that brands can share the stories and impacts of these materials with confidence and transparency

    .

Avient and Oceanworks were originally linked through the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW)
    .
Avient is a founding member of AEPW, joining in 2019

    .
In 2020, Oceanworks was selected as a Breakthrough Enterprise to incubate with Plug and Play, an early-stage startup accelerator, under AEPW's Innovation Program

    .

Walter Ripple, Vice President of Sustainability at Avient, said: “Expanding our partnership with Oceanworks goes hand in hand with our sustainability commitment as a formulator and our focus on helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals.

Oceanworks remains the world’s largest of the recycled marine plastics market, and the knowledge and capabilities it brings will be invaluable in building this new product portfolio
    .
    "

Rob Ianelli, founder and president of Oceanworks, said: "As the world's leading polymer material formulation specialist, Avient will help us further expand the use of recycled ocean plastics in specialty formulations and applications
    .
Their global customers represent a wide range of end markets, and they Emphasis on recycled ocean plastic added to materials

    .
Every ton of at-risk plastic waste that is recycled before it enters the sea is part of the solution

    .
We are excited about the opportunity to work with Avient to drive further customization and scale

    .

    Mr.
Ripple explained: “Customers want to utilize recycled ocean plastic, but many times do not know how to source or value it

    .
With this new collaboration, customers can now incorporate recycled ocean plastic solutions that help them achieve performance and Sustainable Development Goals

    .

Avient's solutions containing Oceanworks' recycled marine plastic ingredients are available worldwide and can be used in a variety of TPE and engineering thermoplastic formulations
