Avient today announced two patent-pending Versaflex™ CE thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) for 5G applications

The new Versaflex™ CE 3140 formulation is transparent to signals, delivering superior dielectric constant and low signal loss performance at high frequencies for better high-speed transmission and connectivity
.
Consumer electronics manufacturers are demanding better performance because the signals are shorter at 5G's high-end millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequencies
.
They face interference from trees, windows and even phone casings that can cause transmission problems for mobile devices

Therefore, Avient has introduced these TPE materials to improve signal transmission at millimeter-wave frequencies

Higher frequency ranges are required for faster data transfer, higher data capacity and lower latency (i.

The new transparent Versaflex CE 3140 TPE targets accessories such as casings for cell phones and other 5G mobile devices

Compared to standard TPEs, they offer lower dielectric constant (Dk) and dissipation factor (Df) performance, resulting in reduced signal degradation
