    The Austrian Health and Food Safety Agency (AGES) reported that only 21 outbreaks occurred in the past year and 67 people were affected
    .
    In 2019, 48 outbreaks caused 793 people to become ill, two of which involved more than 300 patients
    .
    The number of people in need of hospitalization is 17, compared with 159 in 2019, with 1 death
    .
     
    Campylobacter is the most common cause, with 10 outbreaks affecting 26 people
    .
    In an outbreak, Campylobacter jejuni and Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) O157: H7 were simultaneously isolated from two patients
    .
    The second was Salmonella, which had 7 outbreaks and caused 28 people to become ill
    .
