The Government of India estimates that renewable energy projects of more than 100 GW will be in various stages
of implementation before the end of the current financial year (by the end of March 2019).
"As of FY2017-2018, the installed renewable generation capacity reached 68 GW
," said at the launch of the 32nd edition of the TERI Energy and Environment Data Log and Yearbook (FY 2016-17), Minister of New and Renewable Energy.
The government will bid for 10GW of wind power projects and 30GW of solar power projects in the 2018-19 financial year
.

Anand Kumar further elaborated, "The government has already tendered 12.
5 GW of wind power projects and 20 GW of solar power projects in the 2017-2018 fiscal year
.
These will be completed within 13 months of tendering, and in fact, the government expects more than 100GW of renewable energy projects to be in various stages
of implementation by 2018-19.
”
It is reported that if the feed-in tariff model continues to be used, another 6,000 MW of wind power projects will be added to this list
.
In addition to tender projects, the next focus is on the development of solar-wind hybrid projects and offshore wind projects
.
Kumar confirmed: "We will soon develop a policy for
solar-wind hybrid projects.
Since the evacuation infrastructure is already in place, they make sense
.
In addition, the first tenders for the establishment of offshore wind power projects in Tuticorin will be launched
this year.
We expect 10 GW of offshore wind installations
by 2022.
