February 6, 2018 – Arkema announced a 25% increase in its global production capacity for polyamide 12 (PA12) polymers, complementing its key project bio-based polyamide 11 (PA11), to meet strong customer demand
in Asia.
Arkema will start operations at its production site in Changshu, China, and is expected to start production
in mid-2020.
With this latest investment plan, Arkema will be able to continue to strengthen its specialty polyamide business
in three major regions around the world – Europe, North America and Asia.
Arkema's new products support applications in high-growth areas such as cable protection, automotive lightweighting (metal replacement), high-performance sports shoes (running shoes, football boots, etc.
), as well as strong demand
in the developing segment of consumer electronics.
These applications are expected to grow at an average annual rate of more than 7%
in the Asian market over the medium term.
