Recent and continuing improvements in column packing materials for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) have led to much better column efficiency and resolution. There have also been great advances in the direct coupling of liquid chromatography (LC), including capillary electrophoresis (CE), to mass spectrometry (MS) to provide highly sensitive and specific methods of analysis.
