ACWA Power reportedly plans to expand its solar panel manufacturing industry

The company's CEO said the move would put power and water plant developers at the heart of
Saudi Arabia's plans to develop its renewable energy industry.
Riyadh-based ACWA Power, which is partly owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, is in talks to become a solar panel maker, Paddy Padmanathan said in an interview to develop a $200 billion solar power project
in partnership with sovereign wealth funds and Japan's SoftBank.
SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son announced an investment plan last March to create the world's largest solar power project in Saudi Arabia, which is expected to generate up to 200 gigawatts of capacity
by 2030.
The project aims to create thousands of jobs and develop manufacturing
in line with Saudi Arabia's economic diversification plan set out in Vision 2030.
