Many project developers have expressed interest in Abu Dhabi's upcoming 2 GW tender, which could set the stage
for another record-breaking bid for offers.
Reuters recently reported that 48 companies expressed interest in participating in
the 2 GW solar tender announcement issued by the Emirates Hydropower Company (EWEC).
The project is planned to be implemented
in Al Dhafra, about 50 kilometers from Abu Dhabi.
An EWEC spokesman told Reuters that of the 48 companies that responded to the LOI, only 24 were eligible to participate in the actual tender process

These eligible companies will now not be able to submit technical and financial bids to build projects
until the end of the year.
As in the previous case, in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the entire project may be awarded to a single bidder
.
The project is executed by the formed new company, 40% of which is owned by the winning bidder and the rest by EWEC

This is the same
implementation structure as the implementation of the Noor Abu Dhabi solar PV project, which is now operating in Sweihan, 100 km from Abu Dhabi.
Following a reverse auction to a consortium formed by Marubeni Corporation and JinkoSolar, the Noor Abu Dhabi project was awarded to the consortium in September 2016 and recently commissioned to make it the world's largest single-station solar power plant with an installed capacity of 1,177 MW
