ABB, Inc.
, has received an order from PLN, Indonesia's national power company, for gas-insulated switchgear (GIS).
GIS will facilitate a reliable power supply and can operate safely in confined spaces and harsh environments, controlling the grid and protecting it from blackouts
.
ABB helps Indonesia's national power supply strengthen the grid and provide reliable power
As Southeast Asia's largest economy, Indonesia's electricity demand continues to grow
.
The government aims to connect all homes to the national grid by 2025 and is executing an ambitious plan to add 3.
5 megawatts of new generation capacity
.
As part of the order, ABB will design, supply and commission 150 kV GIS
for 10 substations in the Greater Jakarta region, West Java, East Java and Sulawesi.
GIS technology provides a reliable solution with a small footprint and 90% space
savings compared to traditional air-insulated switchgear.
This allows substations to be built within urban areas where land is scarce and expensive, while retaining the beauty of the cityscape
.
"We are pleased to continue to support the Indonesian government and PLN in their efforts to strengthen the grid and provide reliable power to meet the country's growing electricity demand
.
" Claudio Facchin, President of ABB Power Grids, said, "As part of ABB's next phase of strategy, we are committed to leveraging best-in-class technology and a strong local presence to continue our joint growth
with Indonesia.
”
ABB pioneered GIS technology 50 years ago and continues to drive innovation
in this field.
As the market and technology leader in high-voltage GIS technology, ABB offers rated voltages from 72.
5 kV to 1200 kV and has more than 30,000 installations
worldwide.
ABB's latest GIS products include eco-efficiency and digital capabilities
