As of January 9, 2022, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in the world has exceeded 300 million
On January 7, 2022, Liu Jue's team published online in "Vaccines" ("Vaccine") "The acceptance of the third dose of the new crown vaccine in China based on the health belief model and its influencing factors: a national cross-sectional study", The purpose is to explore the public's willingness to receive the booster shot of the new crown vaccine and its influencing factors, in order to provide a scientific reference for promoting the booster shot
Liu Jue introduced that the new crown pneumonia (COVID-19) has been raging around the world for nearly two years
The health belief model is a theoretical model based on needs and motivation theory, cognitive theory and value expectation theory, which is used to focus on people's attitudes and beliefs about health
In November 2021, Liu Jue's team selected more than 3,000 people from 31 provinces in China to conduct a survey on their willingness to strengthen vaccination
Figure 1 Comparison of booster vaccination willingness of different risk perception groups
Based on the health belief model, the study also found that the higher the perception of susceptibility to new coronary pneumonia, the higher the perception of the severity of new coronary pneumonia, the higher the perception of the benefit of the new crown vaccine booster, and the higher the motivation of booster vaccination, the higher the The higher the willingness to vaccinate
The multivariate regression results show that: the willingness of booster vaccination of those with a history of new crown vaccination is about 5-6 times that of those without a history of vaccination; civil servants have the highest willingness to receive booster vaccination, which is about 5 times the willingness of corporate employees to be vaccinated.
Among the research subjects who were unwilling or uncertain about whether to receive a booster shot, the main reasons for hesitation were that they were uncertain about the resistance of the booster shot against the new coronavirus variant, or they believed that two shots of the vaccine were enough to protect themselves and no booster shot was needed.
Overall, more than 90% of the public in China is willing to receive a booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine
